The Classics Club

I’m taking a break from the reviews for today to talk about something that I’m hoping to tackle next.

The Classics Club

It’s designed for anyone wanting to read more classics, of which I obviously fall in that category. 😉 (I fall into a lot of book categories, it seems.)

The basic idea is:

  • You come up with at least 50 classics.
  • You list them on your blog.
  • You choose when you’d like to finish them by (they say up to 5 years).
  • Let the moderators of the club know.
  • Let them know when you’ve finished/written a review you’ve linked to your list. They’ll put your reviews up on their website.

Sounds like something I could do, right? 🙂

I wanted to get this out now, because all this NOT reading during my lunch breaks at work was starting to make me itch. Now that I’m at the end of the week, I think I’m going to give up on that, and get on with the reading!

Now, I’ve got to figure out what books I want to read. I have some ideas. The trouble will be keeping myself limited to 50, though they do say that you don’t have to limit yourself to only 50. You could choose 200 if you wanted. There are a ton of books on my shelves that could be considered classics. They say if you choose 50 and end up reading them all before your chosen time is finished, choose more and keep reading. It ought to be an easy job, choosing 50 books then, since I could always add more later. My problem is, when it comes to books, I’ve always had a hard time setting limits.

I’m thinking I might need a little more time figuring out which ones to choose. 🙂
