Genre: Comic/Humor

Page Numbers: 128 pages

Dates Read: 1/16/14

Plot in three lines or less: This is a collection of Foxtrot comics by Bill Amend, from summer 2003 through Spring 2004. It’s easy to know this, because the highlight of these comics is the movie release of Return of the King, which was December 2003.

New read or re-read? Re-read

Would you read it again? Would you recommend it to others? This is an obvious yes, to both questions, as it is quick, easy reading, and highly enjoyable.

Why did I pick it up? It was one of the books I’d packed to take with me to jury duty. It would have been next on my reading list, except we were let out way earlier than I had anticipated. I was still in the mood to read shorter books when I got home at the end of the work day, so I decided to pull it back out. I was so glad I did.

Favorite Comic? The obvious one is the “Orlando Bloom has Ruined Everything.” Jason is so excited for the movie release that, first he shapes the Christmas tree into the tower of Sauron. Then he starts singing around the house. Paige comments that she bought her ticket before he does, and Jason firmly believes that Orlando Bloom is the reason his life is ruined. One of my other favorites is the one where Paige and her friend are invited to a Halloween party by a friend of Jason’s. They worry that they will look uncool for going, but end up going anyway. Jason’s friend answers the door by saying, “Speak, Friend, and enter. Speaker, Lover, and enter faster.” Cracked me up.

Rating: 5/5

Other Notes? Bill Amend can be found over here. If you’ve never checked out his comics, you would be wise to do so.
