#7 – Mercy Triumphs: Lessons from James by Beth Moore
Genre: Christian, Bible Study, Devotional
Page Numbers: 64 pages
Dates Read: 1/15/14
Plot in three lines or less: Beth takes the main body of her first chapter in her larger study on James and writes it in book-form (as opposed to study-form, which has questions interspersed and leaves room for you to write or journal in it). It is an in-depth look at James chapter 1.
New read or re-read? New read.
Would you read it again? Would you recommend it to others? No, I won’t be reading it again, as I borrowed it from my friend while I was a part of the Bible study doing the much larger workbook connected to it. I would recommend it to others only so far as, if you are at all interested in studying the Bible in depth like I am, you are much better off going for the workbook. You’ll get more information, have the opportunity to journal in there, and it actually covers the entire book of James from the Bible, as opposed to only the first chapter.
Why did I pick it up? When my Bible study started doing the workbook back in the fall, I was interested in seeing if the booklet had anything that might be worthwhile reading, or new information. I borrowed it from my leader, and then promptly forgot I had it. She sent me a text earlier this week asking to return it, so I found it and read it in about 20 minutes right before study.
Rating: 3.5/5, but again, that is only because I would prefer to read the entire thing, not just get a teaser like this. Luckily, I have the study, and can therefore read/work on during my own time.
Other Notes? Yes, I know this hardly counts as an actual book, since it’s about the size of that picture right up there, but for the sake of argument, I am going to count it.
