This is a picture of an empty book shelf! Specifically, an empty book shelf on MY book case (which, let me just tell you right now, was almost impossible to clean off, thanks to all the stuff I currently have in my bedroom while I’m moving things around and getting ready to move, but that’s another story).
Jon Acuff (of Stuff Christians Like fame) put up a challenge on his regular blog back towards the end of December: Clear off a shelf and put everything you read in 2014 on that shelf, as a way to help you read more. And it’s true – I don’t know what is more motivating than seeing an empty shelf that I just want to fill! The original post can be found here.
To make the experience even more challenging, he created a group Pinterest Board for everyone who wanted to participate. Now, not only can we see our own, but we can follow others’ progress, and if the first factor wasn’t motivating enough, this one certainly is. I’m getting book recommendations left and right, and talking about books with others who enjoy reading as much about it as myself. I even got my best friend (who is all Sunshine and Tea Leaves) to join too.
It’s not too late to join. I’m looking forward to filling my Empty Shelf and watching others fill theirs as well.
